„The City High-Rise“ in Leipzig
Augustusplatz 9
The City High-Rise is located on Augustusplatz, one of the most important historic squares in Leipzig.
The square is situated within the ring road which encloses the city center of Leipzig and is today's central place of culture and economy. The opera house, the new "Gewandhaus" and the university of Leipzig are located directly there as well.
You can reach the central post office, the traditional "Moritzbastei" (which is a well-known bar and restaurant) as well as the historic city center within a short minute's walk. Plenty of shopping facilities, restaurants and banking houses can be found in direct proximity.
The City High-Rise offers an excellent connection to the public transport. On Augustusplatz, five tram routes are crossing on the east-west axis and six routes on the north-south axis. The central station is only in a distance of 500 metres.

Building
The building at a height of 142.5 metres was designed by architect Hermann Henselmann in the shape of an open book and was built between 1968 and 1972. Originally,
it was part of the University of Leipzig campus at Augustusplatz. Between 1999 and 2002 it was completely renovated and became an office building with state-of-the-art equipment.
The high-rise has become the city's landmark as it is the tallest building in the city of Leipzig and the tallest multistory building erected in the former East Germany.
Furthermore the panorama restaurant in the 29. floor and the viewing platform in the 30. floor are counted among Leipzig's most famous attractions.
